Surfing is Attuned, Not Attained. My experience on SWA Women's Surf Retreat Tamarindo

Updated: Mar 11, 2022

“Attunement, not attainment” my surf coach said to me this morning during our dawn patrol ladies surf session. Surfing is a relationship. A relationship with the ocean, with each wave. “It’s not about attaining the wave, but attuning to it,” she said, coaching me not only about surfing but also about life. 🌊 Isn’t that like life as well? It’s about relationship -about attuning to one another, to nature, to God and even to ourselves. The goal is not to control or get or possess, but rather to relate and engage, to enjoy and play and overall, to have fun. We can let go of the anxieties and frustrations and allow ourselves to experience joy. 🌊 I’m learning to surf, but also how to live better, and the ocean is a beautiful teacher. 🌊 With gratitude to the guidance and leadership of @andreadiazsurfer who has prepared a beautiful week for us. Only the first day and already it’s been so powerful and transformative. 📷 @arelysrivas11 🌊 Tap twice if you agree that engaging with the natural beauty of this world can be so inspiring. #joyofsurfing#womenssurfretreat
