"I feel so grateful to you Andrea and you Misty for such a transformative week. The experience has definitely changed me -not only my surfing, but on the inside as well. I feel so much more alive and free and one of the reasons why I am learning to surf is the invaluable lessons that the process teaches me about life and how it truly forms me to be a better person. After this past week I feel so much more free, alive and empowered. These are such valuable gifts and experiences that you all gave me in this last week! I loved growing and journeying alongside of each of you! Thank you thank you from my heart! Lots of love to each of you and until we see each other again on our next surf adventure!"

Misty Yates
Surf Coach and Epic Baker
I grew up 2 hours from the beach and only spent 1 week out of the year on the coast. At age 13, I came across a surfing magazine in art class and was immediately inspired. I made up my mind in that moment that I would learn to surf. I bought a used 5’2” Spectrum board from a classmate and started my journey. Stood up and actually road a wave for 5 seconds at age 16 and never looked back. I applied to college in Charleston, SC and at 18 started teaching myself. I gradually got better and I took a job at a local surf shop, Barrier Islands on Folly Beach. Thanks to owner, John Kalagian, and his surf team of hardcore locals, I began competing in local ESA contests and made my way to Nationals in California. I moved to Puerto Rico some years later and then on to the US Virgin Islands, where I became more experienced with more powerful and challenging reef breaks. In 2007, I decided to move to the Northern Pacific region of Costa Rica, where wave consistency and quality is unparalleled. I began teaching surf lessons and surfing almost everyday. Now 12 years later I’ve gained valuable experience in the waves, pushing to new levels and helping others learn the joy of surfing. I’ve traveled to California, North Carolina, Florida, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Nicaragua, and Panama. I’m a 43-year-old grom, still stoked, and still charging!
